Motherhood
Motherhood isn't always soft. It's early mornings and late nights. It's wiping tears- sometimes your child's, sometimes your own. It's stretching yourself thin and still finding more to give. It's being the safe place, the steady voice, the one who knows where the lost things are and how to fix the broken ones.
But Motherhood is also Magic. It's the quiet power of healing a wound with a single kiss. It's the way they run screaming Momma at every pick up. It's the silly little phrases that only you know. It's the laughs only you can share. It's watching your child - bit by bit- becoming exactly who they were meant to be.
To the Mothers who are in the thick of it- motherhood is heavy. It's the weight of wondering if you're doing it right. It's comparing yourself to a version of motherhood that only lives on screens and highlight reels. It's lying awake at night replaying a moment you wish you handled differently - the sigh that came too quick, the patience that wore too thin, the guilt that settles in quietly.
Some days feel like a blur of messes and meltdowns, and in the middle of it , you wonder "am I enough".
But you are not measured by a clean kitchen, a perfectly packed lunch, or if your child was the one having meltdown in the grocery store. Those aren't the marks of a good Mom.
Measure yourself by the way you keep showing up even on the days you feel like you have nothing left to give. By the way your child only reaches for for you when they're scared. By the way they light up when you walk into a room. By the morning coffee and cuddles that you share. By the times you said Yes rather than the ones you said No. By the pizza and forts. By the ways that you would/ and do anything and give up anything for them.
This is for you...
You matter more than you know.
You are loved more than you hear.
You are doing so much better than you think.
This Mother's Day I hope you pause and see yourself the way your children do- strong, safe, irreplaceable.
And if no one has told you lately: Thank you for showing up.
With Love,
Britt
